MEET THE TEAM

Meet Erick Lopez-Garcia our new Application Engineer at Niagara Controls!

Where were you born?

Conroe, TX

Where did you grow up?

Cut N’ Shoot, TX

Can you give me the basics of your career background? Education, years in the industry, years with Collins, etc.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, pursuing a Master’s. 5 years in the industry, less than a year at Collins.

How did you get into the industry?

My first role out of college was being a field engineer for municipal water construction. A lot of the material I procured was PFV. The customer experience was mixed, ranging from terrible to good service. I believed I could do a better job, so I went into the industry.

What's your favorite part about working in the PVF industry?

Providing excellent customer service, solving customer issues. Knowing that our team contributed to large projects, even if sometimes our name is just a footnote.

What do you like most about being a part of the Collins’ team?

There is a lot of engagement from top management. It is true that company culture permeates downward, and it is obvious with Collins. Everyone from Brian to warehouse employees does an excellent job of exercising the company's fundamentals. I know most of the team feels like this is second nature to the job, but not many companies have this same environment. To me, it’s unique to Collins and it is what I like most.

What kind of passions do you pursue outside of work?

I like to volunteer in animal welfare, specifically with dogs and cats. I volunteer at an animal shelter by making calls to potential adopters and fostering.

What was your most favorite/least favorite trip and why?

Most favorite trip was going to Prince Edward Island, Canada. The island had a very rustic, slow-paced feeling. It was very dream-like and felt relaxing.

My least favorite trip was to Las Cruces, New Mexico. It was a work trip for training, and I had little opportunity to enjoy the town. I would try to go again to get a better experience.

Anything else that you'd like to share?

The IncentFit benefit is excellent! It pretty much pays for my gym membership. I encourage others to take advantage of the benefit, if possible.
